I enjoy hiking in the Prescott National Forests. One of my hiking buddies, Jimmy, is a Native American of the Yokut Tribe. Jimmy and I hiked deep in the Bradshaw, the Mingus and the Granite Mountain Wilderness where he spoke of the Ancients who watched over the forest. They are found in deadwood, stone and mountain. This painting is the first in a series I’m titling “Ancients of Western Airzona Forests”. The Timeless Woodsman was inspired by a photograph of an Ancient that Jimmy shared with me from Coconino National Forest, Flagstaff, AZ.
